Peoria Wraps-Up Election Day Voting, Results Pending

Election Day polling places closed at 7:00p.m. Peoria Election Commission Executive Director Tom Bride says election day has been pretty smooth.

Bride says he anticipates Peoria voter turnout to land in the mid teens. But countywide voter turnout will vary due to different issues and races that drive more voters to the poles in certain communities.

Bride says so far vote-by-mail stands at around 800 ballots returned. There are still 300 outstanding ballots that could be postmarked still today and count toward the final vote total. But Bride says not all of those ballots will be returned if recent vote-by-mail practices hold true.

For the sake of comparison, voter turnout was more than 10% in Peoria for the February primary election. Bride says he anticipates turnout for the general election to land between 15 and 20 percent.
