Peoria Police Investigate Daytime Shooting on the South Side

Peoria Police are investigating the death 23-year-old Michael Krus. Police responded to a ShotSpotter alert at 9:42 a.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Starr and Westmoreland.

Krus was found with an apparent gunshot wound in the 1200 block of Westmoreland. He was transported to OSF with life threatening, underwent surgery and died at 2:33p.m.

Krus lived at 2024 S. Winston, about a mile and half from where he was shot. He also had a record. Krus was arrested last September for domestic battery.

Police scanner conversations indicate those in the ShotSpotter- identified-area where Krus was found are denying any shots were fired.

Peoria Police say the investigation continues. The autopsy for Krus is planned for today.
