Bob Michel Remembered

A number of dignitaries joined Bob Michel's family and friends today for his memorial service. The services was at Michel's amateur, in the Renaissance Coliseum at Bradley University.

The long-time Congressman was a highly decorated World War II Veteran with legendary statesmanship.

Michel had a special gift for consensus building and respectful policy making. During his 38 years in congress he was the longest-serving minority leader. Hence, anything he achieved in legislative policy happened with strong bipartisan support.

He's remembered for his humble, jovial character. Peoria will forever bear the benefit of Bob Michel's effective relationship building and undying civility.

Michel was laid to rest in a private ceremony today at Parkview Cemetery. Despite the fact he could have been buried at Arlington National Cemetery, it was his request to be in Peoria.

Here is the audio of Bob Michel's memorial service.
