Peoria Elected Officials Present 'Wish List' to Legislators

Wikimedia Commons

Peoria City and County leaders are sharing their so-called “wish list” to area lawmakers.

Peoria officials gathered Mon. at the annual legislative breakfast to ask state representatives and senators to sponsor seven specific proposals.

The demands include extending state historic tax credits, allowing school districts to recoup property taxes otherwise lost in TIF Districts, and expanding the sales tax base to include consumer services.

Peoria officials are asking legislators to support or oppose items that encompass about a dozen specific policy areas. Some of those matters include supporting comprehensive pension reform and creating a continuing appropriation for pass-through funds, like the motor fuel tax and casino and video gaming.

Peoria also has legislative requests for capital projects for things like reconstruction and road repairs -- that includes securing state funding for the extension of Pioneer Parkway.
