Peoria Airport Adds 3rd Florida Destination

Peoria Public Radio

Peoria International Airport is adding another direct flight to Florida in May. Allegiant Airlines is adding two seasonal weekly flights to Destin/Ft Walton Beach Airport (VPS) May 24th.

The addition of the destination means PIA serves more cities than any other downstate airport. It offers nonstop service to 12 cities on four airlines. The new Destin flight will happen on Wednesday and Saturday mornings on a 177-seat plane.

Allegiant also offers two other Florida destinations including Tampa/St Petersburg and Orlando/Sanford. Reservations are available on Allegiant’s website and some of the earliest Destin flights are already filling up.

Director of Airports Gene Olson says a large number of Central Illinois travelers regularly go this part of Florida's panhandle and the airport is proud to offer this option to get them their faster and at a great price.
