Congressman LaHood’s office is scrambling to secure extra tickets to the upcoming presidential inauguration.

The 18th Congressional District came out strong for President Elect Donald Trump. Based on the political makeup of the district, that’s not much of a surprise.

But Peoria Congressman Darin LaHood says the sweeping support now means his staff is overwhelmed with more than 500 requests for tickets to the inauguration.

“It’s an exciting time. There’s a lot of optimism. People are looking forward to coming out for the inauguration,” LaHood said.

Each member of congress gets 190 ticks for the inauguration on Jan. 20.

Congressman LaHood says he’s requesting any extra tickets from other members of the Illinois Congressional delegation.

President-Elect Trump received more votes from the 18th District than any other district in Illinois.

“I’ve been amazed at the numbers that came out for him in the election, but also the amount of people that want to come for the inauguration,” Rep. LaHood said. “This is an historic event.”
