The world’s largest heavy equipment maker is scaling down a little for its latest product line.
The Caterpillar RP Series of portable generators are the first products released under the company’s new venture called Cat Home & Outdoor Power. It’s the first time Caterpillar is making consumer grade equipment.
The generators ranges from 3.6 kW to 7.5 kW of power, backed by Caterpillar’s reputation for rugged reliability. The generators are designed to provide backup and recreational power for homes and professional job sites. The Cat RP Series portable generators are built by a contract manufacturer oversees.
They’ll be sold at Cat Dealers, and local stores as well as national retailers and wholesalers. The retailers will also be Cat Home & Outdoor Power Authorized Sales and Service Centers.
The portable generators are making their way to stores through end of the year and are already available locally at Wieland’s Lawn Mower Hospital.
Caterpillar is also developing more Home and Outdoor Power products that are expected to make it to the marketplace next year.
