Facility Upgrades Planned for UnityPoint Health Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Center

UnityPoint Health is preparing to make a multi-million dollar addition next year to enhance its behavioral healthcare services. The facilities upgrades are to focus on enhancing its Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Center, and create specialized care units for adults and seniors.

A statement from UnityPoint Health says the plan for the adolescent center is to create a home-like environment including specialty care for different ages. The adult and senior mental and behavioral health care will be separated into three units. They’ll feature specialized care for patients with mood disorders, as well as dementia in all stages. The facility upgrade is to provide care and treatment unlike any other in downstate Illinois.

UnityPoint Health is still finishing the specific designs for the upgrade and reconfiguration. Construction plans are expected to be finalized early next year with work is expected to begin late 2017.
