UnityPoint Health Methodist Renovation Complete

The roughly $12 million in exterior updates and the new Ambulatory Surgery entrance at Unity Point Methodist in downtown is complete. Patients have been using the new entrance but today those who made the 18 month long effort possible are celebrating its completion.

Debbie Simon is the CEO of UnityPoint Health-Peoria. She says the project had a lot of complexity because the core business of patient care had to continue. But Simon says it was worth the investment.

“It is part of a long term vision that this campus could be more accessible, have better lighting, better efficiency and really encourage the community about having a nice looking I-74 health system on the other side,” Simon said.

The new Methodist exterior includes more insulation and the replacement of dozens of more than 50 year old windows with new energy efficient ones.

The elevator in the entryway repurposes the tower of the elevator that used to serve the parking deck on Hamilton. That deck was torn down to make way for the new surface parking lot that serves the front door.
