Illinois Central College Names New President

ICC

Illinois Central College Board of Trustees unanimously approved Sheila Quirk-Bailey to serve as its next President. Quirk-Bailey is coming from William Rainey Harper College in Palatine where she is serving as the Vice President of Institutional Effectiveness.

The ICC appointment is her first position serving as president. ICC Board Chair Sue Portscheller chaired the search committee. “After meeting her, both the search committee and the board of trustees were very confident that she will hit the ground running and be just what the college needs to move forward.”

Portscheller says Quirk-Bailey’s professional accomplishments and qualifications made her a perfect fit before they ever considered she is the first female president. “It’s nice that we have something that is kind of groundbreaking but that really wasn’t the intent, but is a nice side benefit. ”

Quirk-Bailey is an Illinois native and a Bradley University alum with a undergraduate degree in Speech Communication. She holds a Doctorate of Management in Community College Policy and Administration from the University of Maryland University College.

The I-C-C Board of Trustees unanimously approved Quirk-Bailey for the position and still needs to approve her contract at its May 19th meeting. She starts July 1st.

Former President John Erwin retired last summer after about 15 years on the job.

Bruce Budde continues serving as ICC’s interim.
