The Peoria Public Library is one of 19 communities around the country to be hosting a traveling Smithsonian Exhibit this summer. The exhibit is titled Exploring Human Origins: What It Means to be Human.
Trisha Noack manages public relations for the Peoria Public Library System. She says the grant includes Smithsonian and Illinois scientists offering programs in Peoria, including a private presentation for clergy:
“The whole idea of this is to look at the science and see how to we know what we know and have a respectful dialogue amongst our community,” Noack says. “This exhibit is actually a mini version of the Smithsonian Hall of Human Origins. We have some of the main elements and it’s traveling across the country and already been out there for nine or ten months moving around.”
Noack says the Peoria programs associated with the What It Means to be Human exhibit will include a community discussion, a science evening and special displays at the other Peoria Public Library branches.
The Smithsonian Exhibit, Exploring Human Origins: What It Means to be Human is at the Peoria Public Library main branch Friday, June 17th through Thursday, July 14th.
