The Peoria County Election Commission has found a new home.
The Board of Elections Commissioners is expected to vote on the newly proposed location at 4422 N Brandywine Dr. next week.
The merger of the Peoria City and County elections offices means the agency needs a bigger, more suitable location.
Some of the placement characteristics the proposed facility offers include a nearby interstate access, public transportation, adequate off-street parking and the ability to structure it appropriately for the pickup and delivery of voting equipment and today’s voting practices, the commission's executive director Tom Bride said.
The information compiled for the commissioner’s review says square footage costs of the Brandywine address are the lowest of the 10 locations evaluated.
The proposal before the Election Commissioners says the building will require very little demolition.
