Peoria School District 150 is handing out its annual Reduction in Force, or RIF notices. 60 teachers are receiving honorable discharge notices, and many part time and late-in-the-year-hires are also being released.

PSD 150 attorney Rick Rettberg says most will likely be called back by May. He says the district must first nail down its reconfiguration plan, and the state needs to decide how much it’s providing in per-pupil funding. 18 teachers are also being notified that they will not be coming back next school year, based on performance related issues.

The Peoria District 150 School Board also approved a three year contract for its Support Staff union workers. It provides two percent salary increases each year, retroactive for the current school year through 2017-18. The cafeteria workers are the exception. They are receiving a 2 and a half percent increase this year in an effort to keep their pay rate with the market.

The School Board also voted to terminate its contract with Interim Chief Financial Officer Erik Bush.
