Ted Cruz Campaigns in Illinois Monday

US Senator and Republican presidential hopeful Ted Cruz rallied a full house in the Peoria Civic Center Theater Monday evening. He finished his speech and worked the crowd before he was back on the road.

Cruz says Donald Trump has spend too much time and money supporting Democrats including Rod Blagojevich and Rahm Emanuel to be taken as a serious republican presidential candidate.

Cruz says he’s the only Republican candidate that is tied with Trump in Illinois and Missouri. “Our campaign is the only campaign that has any plausible path to beating Donald Trump. If you don’t want to see Donald Trump as the Republican nominee," Cruz said. "If you don’t want to see Hillary Clinton as the next president of the United States, then we welcome you to our team and let’s stand together.”

Cruz says as president, he will: “repeal Obama Care. We’ll pass a simple flat tax. We’ll abolish the IRS. We’ll lift back the regulations that are crushing small businesses. We’ll stop amnesty and we’ll secure the boards. We’ll see millions of high paying jobs created.”

Peoria was one of five stops for Cruz in Illinois Monday. He also had stops in Springfield, Decatur, Glen Ellyn and Rockford ahead of the Illinois primary election.

Donald Trump rallied supporters in Bloomington Sunday, Bernie Sanders was in Champaign Saturday and former President Bill Clinton stumped for his wife, Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton in Peoria Friday.
