Ted Cruz Barnstorming Throughout Illinois
Republican U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz is expected to speak at the Peoria Civic Center Monday at 4:30pm. Cruz' visit is one of several scheduled in Illinois throughout the day. He also has rallies scheduled in Springfield, Decatur, Glen Ellyn and Rockford.
Donald Trump Locked Out of Chicago
Donald Trump canceled his appearance at the University of Illinois Chicago Pavilion Friday. The Republican presidential candidate’s campaign said the decision was made out of safety concerns. Demonstrators took over an entire section of the arena - before Trump ever took the stage. Two Illinois Public Radio reporters were at the Donald Trump rally.

Bernie Sanders Welcomed by UofI Students
Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders advocated for free college tuition to a crowd of nearly 3,000 University of Illinois students at the campus in Urbana-Champaign. The Democratic presidential candidate told students at U of I’s recreation center Saturday that young people should be rewarded, not punished for pursuing higher education. Sanders wants to use a ‘speculation tax’ on Wall Street -- or a levy on US stocks, bonds, and derivatives.
