Caterpillar eyes green partnership with SunSelect

Caterpillar is affirming its commitment to sustainability by partnering with SunSelect Produce. The collaboration will grow greenhouse vegetables using carbon dioxide and heat energy waste produced at Caterpillar’s Mossville power plant.

SunSelect will purchase adjacent real estate to build a hydroponic greenhouse that can sustain a year round growing season. The greenhouse is expected to hold a 60 acre footprint at full buildout.

The proposed SunSelect facility will also serve as the company’s midwest hub for production and distribution and support 300 new jobs when it’s fully operational.

The proposal is still in the due diligence process and  needs regulatory approval. The facility is expected to be operational in 12 to 18 months after the groundbreaking.
