The Center for Prevention of Abuse is celebrating a grant from Ameren Illinois. The $25,000 Ameren Cares grant is being put to work in the center’s K-12 education programs in the tri-county area. Carol Merna is the executive director of the Center for Prevention of Abuse. She says February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month. She says their prevention educators have been in dozens of classrooms teaching young people how to build healthy relationships and nonviolent conflict resolution. Last year the The Center for Prevention of Abuse education program reached an estimated 30-thousand students in 100 Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford County schools.
