OSF gets approval to transition Streator Hospital to emergency center

OSF HealthCare has the regulatory approval from the Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board to make the former Streator hospital a freestanding emergency center.

The OSF facility is currently operating with full staff as an urgent care center.  OSF plans to transition Streator to emergency only as soon as it can obtain licensure by the Illinois Department of Public Health.

A statement from OSF says the next goal is to do site selection and construction of an outpatient medical facility in Streator. The proposed site plans will be announced soon.
