You don’t have to worry about fumbling for change to feed a downtown parking meter in 2016.
Starting in January, the City will begin using “Passport,” a mobile payment provider for parking and transportation. The new method would allow users to pay parking fare through a smartphone app.
Parkers will also be able to monitor the remaining time in their parking meter and extend it remotely.
The City says the pilot program will be available at the on-street parking meters downtown, including near City Hall, the County Courthouse and the Riverfront Museum.
Those who prefer to use quarters can still pay the traditional way.
