Peoria Heights Crafting Commercial Corridor Study

The Village of Peoria Heights is crafting a long term plan for its main business corridors.  The Village received a more than $45,000 grant to hire a consultant to look at ways to improve the business corridors along Prospect and War Memorial Drive.  Peoria Heights Administrator Matt Fick says the plan will help the Village better market is business, housing and recreational sites:

“This might be something that I can use if a developer were to come to me and say ‘I’m interested in, for example, doing a hotel in the Heights, where would that go, where do you see that fitting?’, I would be able to reference this plan and show them exactly where that goes.”

Fick says one suggestion is to possibly add a rest area along the Village’s recreational trail:

“How do we get the trail-users to leave the trail, come into our downtown, shop, eat, spend some time, spend their dollars and then get back on the trail and go back on their way.”

Fick says the plan will also look at possible traffic changes, adding green space and parking along the corridors.  He says the Village hopes to finish the corridor plan by next summer.

Residents can submit comments or suggestions for the plan in the next 90 days by emailing Administration@PeoriaHeights.org or by calling 309-686-2385.
