Peoria City Councilman Ryan Spain Monday filed his nominating petitions to seek the Republican nomination for the 73rd state House seat. Longtime incumbent David Leitch announced he will retire late next year and is supporting Spain as his successor. Spain says he turned in 1,200 signatures to get on the ballot, which is more than twice the legal requirement.
