Considering Options For The Peoria Boat Club

The future of a decades-old boat club in Peoria remains uncertain as the River Trails Apartment project moves forward.  The project would force the Peoria Boat Club to relocate part of its operation:

The City is looking to convert a plot of riverfront property into park space to ease concerns about a segment of Riverfront Park slated for the apartment complex.  Assistant City Manager Chris Setti says that means the Peoria Boat Club would likely have to vacate land typically used to store boats:

“Obviously the Peoria Boat club is harmed in this whole transaction because they’ve been a tenant of land and they’re going to lose their tenancy.”

Setti says one possibility is for the club to keep its dock slips, even if land-storage for boats would happen elsewhere.  The City Council could discuss options for the Peoria Boat club at its next meeting October 13th.
