Celebrating National Public Lands Day

http://www.publiclandsday.org/

The Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District is celebrating National Public Lands Day.

The agency is waiving normal use fees at boat launch ramps and beaches at its recreation areas Sept. 26. The last Saturday in September historically is National Public Lands Day.

Camping services fees and those for specialized facilities including picnic shelters will not be waived.

The Corps is also hosting National Public Lands Day activities throughout the District where volunteers can be issued a fee-free coupon if the site is participating in the coupon program.

It's expected that volunteers will help support more than 90 Army Corp projects in this year’s National Public Lands Day. It’s the largest annual volunteer hands-on restoration activity of its kind.
