Springdale looks to add to its familial structures

Peoria's publicly held historic cemetery could be home to a family mausoleum for the first time in 80 years.  The proposal marks a step forward for the 160-year-old graveyard, which in the past decade has been reinvigorated after deteriorating under private ownership in the 1990s.   The general manager told the Springdale Cemetery Management Authority the deal should be completed by Oct. 31. He would not identify the family but said members are considering two sites at the cemetery which holds the remains of a former Illinois governor and veterans of every American war since the Revolution. Springdale has 15 family mausoleums - the oldest built in 1859, the latest in 1935.
