Peoria’s OneWater Committee is looking at ways green infrastructure can reduce stormwater run-off and link people across town. Anthony Corso led the group’s discussion at this week’s meeting. He says any projects that capture rainwater should also connect people to cultural and educational areas:
“Getting people out of their houses or out of their businesses at lunch to walk somewhere where they happen to run into one another. It really creates real strong ties to the community itself.”
The One-Water Committee was established to find ways to reduce storm-water runoff in Peoria. The group is also looking at recommending a monthly residential fee range to help pay for upgrades to infrastructure that handles runoff.
