Report: U of I athletes tested positive for drugs 65 times

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - University of Illinois athletes reportedly tested positive for banned drugs 65 times during last school year.  It's more than any school year in at least a decade. A print report cites documents obtained through an information request.  The next highest total in the past 10 years was 52 positive tests in the 2009-2010 year.  The sports with the highest numbers were football, which also has the biggest roster, followed by baseball/softball and basketball. The most common drug was marijuana. Random drug testing has been in place for years. However, university officials don't publicize names of athletes and discipline is largely handled internally.  The report doesn't say how many athletes tested positive.  University officials didn't immediately return requests for comment.
