The Tazewell County Sheriff’s Department is reporting the loss of a Deputy last night who was responding to a call.
44 year-old Deputy Craig Whisenand was responding to a report of a domestic disturbance in Armington at approximately 10:30 last night when all communications were lost. About 90 minutes later another Tazewell County Deputy discovered Deputy Whisenandhad been involved in a single vehicle crash at the intersection of Springfield and Tomm Roads. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The accident is being investigated by Illinois State Police and the Tazewell County Coroner’s Office. The cause of the crash is still unknown and there are no known witnesses.
Craig Whisenand had been a Deputy Sheriff for more than a decade.
