The County has appointed a new administrator for Heddington Oaks nursing home. Christy Delaware has been serving as the interim administrator since March, after the previous administrator Matt Nieukirk resigned.
Delaware has been a director of nursing in the industry for more than a decade, but she calls herself "a nurse to the core."
“What I love about Peoria County is that we do provide a service for those residents that a lot of time have difficulty finding a home to take them in,” Delaware told WCBU during an interview last month.
Delaware has worked with the county since 2007 when was hired to serve as the Director of Nursing for Bel-Wood Nursing Home. Delaware faces a few challenges ahead as the home navigates through cuts to Medicaid and a decline in Medicare residents.
