A powerful thunderstorm with winds as high as 70 miles per hour tore through the Quincy area Monday evening. The damage was so extensive in parts of Quincy, Mayor Kyle Moore asked residents to remain in their homes unless they had a life-threatening emergency. A state of disaster was also issued in Adams County as emergency management officials urged residents to stay home.
