The Peoria County Board approved Scott Sorrel as permanent Administrator last night.
Sorrel, a longtime Assistant Administrator, replaces Lori Luther who took a job in Wisconsin. Sorrel says he’s humbled for the unanimous board support, but that he’s up to the task amid looming state funding cuts and uncertainties in revenue:
“We’ve got some great challenges ahead of us. And we are going to face those challenges head on.”
The County is planning to use a consultant to help find more ways to cut costs or boost revenue. Board chairman Andrew Rand says Sorrel brings years of experience to the county’s top post:
“We need to stick close to home with an individual who’s comfortable with all of the personalities that do the spending, the county board and the elected officials.”
Sorrel’s contract is for 13-months and pays a base salary of $125,000. In other business, the County Executive committee voted to approve buying six large fans to help fix air flow issues in three galleries at the Peoria Riverfront Museum.
