The City of Peoria is honoring a famous West Bluff resident and artist with a special street sign. The city dedicated the corner of Main and Flora Avenue after Maryruth Adams Ginn. The 82-year-old passed away last month after decades of creating art and teaching at multiple colleges. Longtime friend Pat Kenny says Ginn used art to communicate ideas:
“She was a very quiet, introverted person even though she contributed much to society. And I guess she’d get a kick out of the sign.”
Ginn was a driving force behind the fiber art center at The Studios on Sheridan. She taught at Illinois Central College, Bradley University, and Midstate College.
