A Springfield school board member says he wants to become the Democratic nominee in the upcoming special election to fill the seat vacated by former Congressman Aaron Schock. Adam Lopez wants to fill the congressional seat that Schock left under a cloud. Democratic leaders said in recent weeks they were searching for a potential candidate to run in the Republican-leaning district. Lopez describes himself as a conservative Democrat. Lopez works as a financial representative for County Financial. He says he wants to keep his job if elected and not take the $174,000 congressional salary. Schock resigned in March amid questions about campaign and office expenses. Officials have set a primary for June 8 and the general election for Sept. 10.
