Former District 150 administrators criticized current school leadership during last night's Peoria City Council meeting.
Retired principal John Meisinger told the council that District 150 Superintendent Grenita Lathan's leadership is responsible for decreased student testing scores and performance, and he called for a change. City Councilwoman Denise Moore says she was disappointed in the presentation:
“I think it was inappropriate. I think it was done politically to put pressure on those who are running for office to make some kind of statement in advance of the election.”
The District says there was no context to the presentation. The exchange comes a day after District 150 staff proposed deep budget cuts. The city and District are also planning a joint meeting to discuss education.
