Details emerge on Peoria’s proposed bicycle plan

The City of Peoria is looking to get more bike-friendly on its roadways.

Following multiple public input meetings, the latest proposed bike improvements to the city include installing shared-use paths, adding separate bike lanes or boosting bike pavement markers on streets. City Traffic Engineer Nick Stoffer says a main goal is to connect existing bike paths to larger trails in the area:

“We want people to be able to leave their house, and go pretty much anywhere they would want to go as a destination in Peoria.”

Stoffer says the city will use scheduled road projects, like next year’s roadwork on Sheridan, to boost bike-friendliness. A link to more information on Peoria’s Bike Plan can be found by clicking here.
