Abuse a factor in former lawmaker’s sentencing

Dailyherald.com

A defense filing says an ex-Illinois legislator in a child pornography case was sexually abused as a child.

Thursday's filing asks a federal judge to impose the minimum prison sentence on former state Rep. Keith Farnham. The Elgin Democrat faces five to 20 years for transporting child pornography. Sentencing is scheduled for March 19.

The defense filing says Farnham was sexually abused by at least two perpetrators from the time he was six into his teen years.

The 67-year-old's lung disease and may have less than a year life expectancy.
