Peoria Council OKs crafting of food truck ordinance

The Peoria City Council unanimously approved having staff craft an ordinance regulating food-trucks in the downtown.

The Council vote directs staff to come back in a month with language that allows food-trucks to operate within the city.  Councilwoman Denise Moore says she supports the concept of food trucks, within certain guidelines:

“I’ve eaten from food trucks and would do it again, would love to see it in downtown Peoria, if it was crafted properly so that our brick and mortar businesses understood that we weren’t trying to impinge upon their business.”

City Staff is also planning public meetings on the subject in the next month. It's unclear how any new ordinance language may differ from the previous proposal that narrowly failed three years ago.
