A Peoria lawmaker wants to create a new task force to address the growing skills gap in manufacturing. State Representative Jehan Gordon-Booth has introduced legislation to assemble the so-called Advisory Committee on Education and Workforce Alignment.
The group would work with manufacturing businesses and education leaders to determine the skills needed to fill jobs, and develop a plan to better train students. The proposal calls for recommendations from the taskforce to be submitted to lawmakers in a year.
