Local governments are losing the fight to properly fund road projects. That’s one message from this year’s State of Peoria County address. Administrator Lori Curtis Luther says the County is delaying road projects because there’s not enough money from motor-fuel-tax revenue to cover costs. Luther says a consultant is reviewing the funding and quality of roads in the County:
“I think it’ll be a great opportunity to really understand the cost of road improvements throughout the county, how our revenue streams haven’t kept pace with the quality of our roads.”
Luther says the County will hold a public input meeting after the road study wraps up later this year.
