CityLink is celebrating a civil rights pioneer. The transit organization reserved a seat on each of its busses Wednesday in honor of Rosa Parks. Parks refused to give up her seat to a white person on a city bus in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955.
Anna Buehrer is the Director of Marketing and Public Relations at CityLink.
“This year, 2015, actually marks the 60th anniversary of that event that led to the bus boycott in Montgomery and was a key event of the civil rights movement.”
Parks’ birthday is Wednesday. CityLink staff also handed out cookies to passengers as part of the celebration.
