Pekin police say they’ve arrested a man who allegedly hit a dog with his vehicle and fled the scene. The incident took place Monday morning when a woman was walking her two dogs on East Shore Drive.
She told police a vehicle swerved toward her, ran over one of her dogs, and hit a no parking sign. The dog was killed in the hit and run.
Police later identified the driver as Kenneth Marion of Pekin. He was arrested for criminal damage to property, failure to report an accident to police, and reckless driving. He was also issued a city ordinance violation for striking an animal with a vehicle.
