Peoria Park District receives grant for skate park

The Peoria Park District is getting some financial help to build a new skate park. The district announced Friday it’s getting a $285,000 grant from Illinois’ Open Space Lands Acquisition and Development and the federal Land and Water Conservation Fund.

The park will be located next to the Lakeview Family Aquatic Center. It will include stairs and handrails for grinding, obstacles for more technical maneuvers and quarter pipes and ramps.
The skate park is replacing large water slides that were removed last year.
