Dunlap School District 323 has a new Superintendent who’s a known quantity.
Dr. Lisa Parker started serving in the interim role last March. She took the official post Thursday night with the overwhelming support of the school board.
Parker started at Dunlap as a guidance counselor more than 20 years ago. She says removing interim from her title means she’s ready to handle identified goals.
"Starting off we will be looking at a strategic plan. It’s up this year. So that will be our first thing. We need to look at bringing in a curriculum director to the district office. We don’t have a curriculum director right now. So reorganization of the district office. That will be the two priorities.”
Parker has a three year contract with a $185,500 salary for the first year. That will be renegotiated for the remaining two years of the deal.
More than 30 people applied for the position.
The Dunlap School district has more than 4000 students. It has five grade schools, two middle and one high school.
