The City of East Peoria is making way for a new city hall in the Levee District.
The new city hall is to be constructed in the Civic Complex and attached to the new Fondulac Library. The more than $2.1 million construction cost will be offset by the sale of the current city hall and former library, as well as new retail sale receipts.
The East Peoria City Council unanimously approved the sale of its current city hall property last night for $445,000 as well as the construction contracts for the new building.
Groundbreaking is expected about March. East Peoria’s new city hall is expected to be complete in early next year.
