Caterpillar is in the final phase of its study of whether to update its aging world headquarters building and surrounding area. Peoria Public Radio’s Alex Rusciano reports:
There’s no timeline on when Caterpillar’s two-and-a-half-year study will wrap-up. But Peoria’s Zoning Commission approved a request from the company that gives it more flexibility with any future building heights, landscaping and signage within a six-block area downtown. Cat Spokeswoman Rachel Potts says the zoning nod was a needed step:
“That’s the kind of detail that we were needing in order to move our study forward.”
The zoning request now heads to the full City Council for consideration later this month.
