17th District Congresswoman Cheri Bustos says President Barack Obama’s announcement to normalize relations with Cuba could benefit Illinois. The president’s announcement includes re-establishing economic ties with the country.
Bustos says that could eventually lead to lifting a long-standing trade embargo with Cuba.
“This perhaps is a first step in that direction after many many decades. It could be a direct impact and a direct improvement for our family farmers in this region.”
Bustos says she hopes to weigh in on the issue as a member of the U.S House agriculture committee.
