Peoria County looks to acquire land for Hanna City Trail

Peoria County is looking to start negotiations with Union Pacific Railroad to secure a recreational trail.  Peoria Public Radio's Alex Rusciano reports:

The County can use up to $616,000 through a state grant to acquire nearly 25 miles of unused railway.  Peoria County Board member Sharon Williams says the trail corridor starts in Bellevue and ends near Middle Grove in Fulton County:

“Most of the growth has been in North Peoria, so I think this is a great opportunity to have growth in that hanna City area out that way.”

The County has two years to negotiate for the former rail property. In other business, the County Board voted to eliminated an $8 fee that paid for daycare services for parents at the courthouse.
