Planning for the region’s water future

Peoria Public Radio

Those interested in the region’s water supply sustainability are invited to participate in planning for it.

The Tri-county Regional Planning Commission and North Central Illinois Council of Governments are hosting planning kick-off events in Peru and Peoria Wednesday, December 3, 2014.

People with primary water supply concerns for existing and future business and population growth are invited to participate in the planning committee.

The kick-off events are Wednesday at the Peru City Hall from 10:00a.m. to 11:30a.m. and from 3:00p.m. to 4:30p.m. the Peoria Public Library North Branch.

This is the first time water supply needs have been studied on a regional scale, and data collected will help guide the planning process. The planning process continues through May.

The Middle Illinois River Basin consists of Peoria, Stark, Marshall, Putnam, Woodford, Livingston, and LaSalle Counties.

Those interested in more information, not able to attend the kickoff meetings and/or wanting to be involved in the planning process can contact Nick Hayward with the Tri-county Regional Planning Commission.
