The Peoria County Board elected a new chairman Monday night.
Andrew Rand was overwhelmingly elected. The Democrat replaces outgoing chairman Tommy O’Neill. Rand praised O’Neill’s last six years in the top Board position:
“Personally I’ve learned a great deal from you. But as long as you’re still in the room I’ll continue to learn.”
Rand says boosting relations with elected officials and financial stability are among top priorities for his two-year term. Steven Morris is the new Republican vice-chair, and the number of board committees is shrinking from ten to six.
