Peoria getting new assisted living facility

A $20 million assisted living facility is set to be built in the area that was previous the SouthtownTIF District. The Peoria City Council approved a zoning change to the Romeo B Garrett property next to Kindred Hospital. Construction is planned to being on the complex next summer. Project manager Rick Banas says the facility will offer more than 100 apartments, and has payment help for tenants:

“The state expects the resident to pay what they can afford to pay, and the state makes up the difference.”

Banas says the facility will serve people 22 to 64 who have physical disabilities. Construction is planned to start next summer.
