Area school leaders in favor of changing school funding formula

fundingilfuture.org

Some area school superintendents are joining a statewide initiative calling on Governor-elect Bruce Rauner to support school funding reform. The group, Funding Illinois’ Future, includes school leaders from District 150, Illinois Valley Central, Farmington Central, Bartonville, and Peoria Heights.

The coalition wants lawmakers to approve Senate Bill 16 which would change the way education is funded throughout the state. Schools would receive funding based on the needs of their students, not the wealth of local property taxpayers.  District 150 Superintendent Grenita Lathan says the state must make sure every child in Illinois is supported no matter where they come from.
